Hello, I am Elena. I’m a digital anthropologist who works as a UX designer by day. I am currently on a side quest in my life, conducting research by using mixed methods – qualitative and quantitative ethnographic approaches in the following areas – play, embodied movement, imagination, and human behaviour in pop culture contexts.
I have a minor specialisation in Japanese language, art history, culture and linguistics.
I am currently using virtual ethnography to explore how real-life behaviours, regarding labour and productivity, are transferred into video games as forms of modified reality. I will be building upon the cultural theories of Adorno, and the anthropological theories of David Graeber and Roberte Hamayon to make a wider contribution to the anthropology of play and games.
